As the day winds down and the Royal Hospital Chelsea falls quiet, you’ll be guided through the historic grounds as the sun approaches golden hour – hearing one-of-a-kind stories fill the serene summer evening air.
Discover the secrets of Chelsea’s past and the fascinating history housed within our magnificent Great Hall and sacred Chapel. Wander through the radiant Figure Court, taking in the dramatic views of our historic buildings and peaceful grounds. The tour concludes at the solemn Chillianwala Memorial, where you’ll hear of the fierce battle it commemorates – a poignant end as the sun begins to set.
Your evening begins in the stunning Grade II listed Soane Stable Yard, where you’ll be welcomed with the rare opportunity to chat informally with your Chelsea Pensioner tour guide.

Bikes (including folding bikes) and scooters are not permitted. There are bike racks located along Royal Hospital Road. These can be used to secure any bikes and scooters.
Please do not secure any bikes or scooters to the railings outside the Royal Hospital Chelsea or Burton Court. Any items secure to these railings will be removed.
Please adhere to the age range specified for events on the listings page and if appropriate please book a ticket for your child. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult approved by the parent/guardian. The event organiser cannot be responsible for unsupervised children.
