This remarkable museum is not open to the public – it can only be experienced by booking this Wellington Hall Museum tour, making it a rare opportunity to explore the history that lives at the heart of the Royal Hospital.
Led by one of our expert Chelsea Pensioner Museum Guides, this intimate tour offers a unique perspective on centuries of military tradition, personal stories, and national heritage. During your visit, you’ll encounter extraordinary objects and displays, including:
- The Queen’s Parade Chair
- Learn how the Napoleonic Wars impacted the Royal Hospital
- Stories of the two World Wars and their profound impact on the Chelsea Pensioners
- A large historic collection of Regimental Cap Badges
This is a truly unique experience; a chance to see remarkable artefacts up close and learn directly from those who have lived the military tradition themselves. The Wellington Hall Museum holds deep meaning for our Chelsea Pensioners, and we are delighted to share it with you.
Please note: This tour is not part of the free Exhibition in the Soane Stable Yard. It offers access to a different, privately held museum.

Is the Royal Hospital Chelsea accessible?Yes, the Royal Hospital Chelsea is fully accessible. If you need further access information or help please do get in touch tours@chelsea-pensioners.org.uk or call 0207 881 5200.
Bikes (including folding bikes) and scooters are not permitted. There are bike racks located along Royal Hospital Road. These can be used to secure any bikes and scooters.
Please do not secure any bikes or scooters to the railings outside the Royal Hospital Chelsea or Burton Court. Any items secure to these railings will be removed.
Please adhere to the age range specified for events on the listings page and if appropriate please book a ticket for your child. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult approved by the parent/guardian. The event organiser cannot be responsible for unsupervised children.
