Royal Hospital Chelsea

Home to the world-famous Chelsea Pensioners, this is one of the UK’s most important historic buildings, designed by Sir Christopher Wren and Sir John Soane. Book a tour with a Chelsea Pensioner to enjoy the full experience or drop-in for a free visit to the newly-renovated Soane Stable Yard which includes an exhibition, shop, post office and cafe.

Opening hours:

The Soane Stable Yard opens 9 – 5pm daily. Free entrance and no ticket required.

Guided tours of the building run most weeks (except late November and December). Booking is essential, see the What’s On page for tickets.

Eat and drink:

Choose from a delicious range of handmade pastries, cakes, savouries and salads, speciality coffee, artisan teas and more at the Heidi Bakery Café in the Soane Stable Yard.

The café is open between 8am and 5pm Monday to Saturday and from 9am to 5pm on Sunday
