The streets of London are full of history, and stories from Sikh & Punjab History are brought to life through walking tours by Rav Singh, founder of A little History of the Sikhs – a community initiative that works to translate research in modern-day Sikh history and heritage into walking tours in London, day trips in the South-East of England and study visits to destinations in the UK and across Western Europe.

His research papers on Sikh History on the streets of Kensington & Chelsea (2020), British Imperial and Sikh History on the Streets of Westminster (2021) and Discovering stories from Punjab on the streets of Saint-Tropez, Cote D’Azur, France (2023), with chapter contributions to publications including The Journal of South Asian Diaspora (Sept 2023), The Routledge Handbook of Punjab Studies (Feb 2026).

In this tour, Rav will bring alive 19th century Sikh history and the annexation of the Sikh Empire, through the artefacts and memorials found at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. The tour commences with a short presentation on the 19th century Sikh Empire, the Anglo Sikh Wars and the annexation of the Punjab, and a spotlight on Sikhs of the late 19th and 20th century and their links to Chelsea and the local area.
