Anthony Bale

Anthony Bale is Professor of Medieval Studies at Birkbeck, University of London. He has edited and translated several medieval texts, as well as new translations and editions of ‘The Book of Marvels and Travels’ by John Mandeville, ‘The Book of Margery Kempe’, and ‘Medieval English Travel’, a sourcebook. In 2022, he was awarded a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship. He is also a former president of the New Chaucer Society.
