Anne-Marie Craven provides a fascinating overview of the history and heritage of Chelsea.
About the event
The heritage of Chelsea is as fascinating as it is broad. From its military connections in Duke of York Square, its role as haven for writers and actors all the way to it being the epicentre of the Swinging Sixties, the area has many stories to tell.
The heritage of the area can also be seen through its owners, its landlords and its many fascinating residents. Be it Cheyne, Cadogan or Wilde, these names have had a lasting impression on the area and how we view its history.
Anne-Marie Craven provides an overview of Chelsea’s wide-ranging heritage. Offering a perfect introduction to the area, this tour will look at Chelsea residents such as Bram Stoker and Mark Twain, while also highlighting the impact of Mary Quant on the King’s Road. Finally, it will cover the history of Chelsea staples such as Peter Jones and its humble beginnings and the role of the Royal Court Theatre as the original home for the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
This tour will start at the National Army Museum and end at Sloane Square station.
