Experience an exclusive guided tour of the National Army Museum’s newly-refreshed Soldier gallery, in the company of two serving officers.

About the event

Join two serving Army officers for an exclusive guided tour of the National Army Museum’s Soldier gallery.

The newly-refreshed gallery explores life as a soldier, from joining up and training to discipline, food and demobilisation, across three centuries of history.

From the demands of Army life, to the physical and psychological impact of combat, as well as the lasting friendships born out of shared service, it shows how the human experience of soldiering has remained remarkably constant.

Captain AJ Scott and Second Lieutenant TJ Mcloughlin will bring their own perspective as serving soldiers to the history and personal stories behind the objects in the gallery.

About the speakers

Captain Scott commissioned into the Royal Dragoon Guards in 2020. His career has focussed on Reconnaissance and International Liaison roles and has taken him to Eastern Europe, the Caribbean and Asia. He was seconded to the Museum in May to strengthen the ties between the National Army Museum and the serving Army.

Second Lieutenant Mcloughlin is the Army Engagement Officer at the Museum. He has a Master’s degree in Public History and commissioned earlier this year, after serving with the Scots Guards for three years, including a stint on ceremonial duty.
