Step into the festive wonderland of Chelsea Physic Garden, nestled on the banks of the River Thames, and let the magic of Christmas come alive. This December, join us for an enchanting storytelling experience with Father Christmas in our charming Greenhouse Themed Grotto.
Get ready for a Christmas adventure as Father Christmas shares a heart warming story in his cosy, twinkling grotto. Each child will receive a special gift from Father Christmas, and there’s a perfect opportunity to capture this magical moment with a photo!
After the story, explore the stunning winter beauty of London’s oldest botanic garden.
While you are here, join in on our eco-friendly Christmas decoration craft activity, perfect for all ages. Take a break and warm up with a delicious mulled wine or a creamy hot chocolate from The Physic Garden Café, and enjoy the festive spirit in every corner of the garden.
Booking & Ticket Information:
- Tickets: £13 per child (includes a gift) and £11 for accompanying adults. Your ticket includes entry to Chelsea Physic Garden for the entire day and to our drop-in Christmas decoration making workshop.
- Father Christmas will be visiting on select dates: Saturday 6, Sunday 7, Saturday 13, Sunday 14, Friday 19, Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 December 2025.
- Timeslots: Book your storytelling session between 10.00 am – 3.50 pm. Timeslots are limited and sell out fast, so be sure to book early!
Important Notes:
- The time on your ticket is for your storytelling session; please arrive at least 10 minutes early to be greeted by our festive helpers.
- The grotto is indoors, but some waiting may be outside—dress warmly and bring an umbrella if needed!
- All children must be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.
- There are no discounts for members. Members will need to pay for an adult ticket when accompanying their children.

FAQs
Is the Chelsea Physic Garden accessible?Most of the Garden is fully accessible, with the exception of the first floor Gallery at Chelsea Physic Garden which is used only for special events and is only accessible via a narrow 22 step staircase with a handrail.

Bikes (including folding bikes) and scooters are not permitted. There are bike racks located along Royal Hospital Road. These can be used to secure any bikes and scooters.
Please do not secure any bikes or scooters to the railings outside the Royal Hospital Chelsea or Burton Court. Any items secure to these railings will be removed.
