Step back in time with musician and storyteller Paul Rubinstein on this magical family story walk of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, home of the Chelsea Pensioners.

About the event

Discover 300 years of history in this interactive 45-minute tour designed for families with children aged 5-10. The tour includes seeing the Royal Hospital Chelsea, meeting a Chelsea Pensioner and finding out more about the traditions and stories that make the Royal Hospital the unique place it is today.

Session times (on 15 February and 22 February)

  • 10.30am – 11.15am
  • 11.45am – 12.15pm
  • 2.15pm – 3.00pm

Additional information

  • Pushchairs are welcome on site, so it’s easy for families with younger children to join in the fun.
  • Each tour is limited to just 25 people, ensuring an intimate and interactive experience.

Are bikes or scooters allowed?

Bikes (including folding bikes) and scooters are not permitted. There are bike racks located along Royal Hospital Road. These can be used to secure any bikes and scooters.

Please do not secure any bikes or scooters to the railings outside the Royal Hospital Chelsea or Burton Court. Any items secure to these railings will be removed.

Will the walk go ahead if the weather is wet?

Walks will continue in wet conditions, so please dress appropriately.

Can I bring children?

Please adhere to the age range specified for events on the listings page and if appropriate please book a ticket for your child. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult approved by the parent/guardian. This person can accompany a maximum of four children per event. Where permitted, any child over the age of two needs their own seat for events.

The event organiser cannot be responsible for unsupervised children.
