An ‘In Conversation’ with author Tamsin Perrett and editor Camilla Mountain uncovering the remarkable tale of the Cadogan family, who took Chelsea from a farmland estate to a visionary Georgian town and thriving London community.

About the event

From the mists of ancient Wales, the ‘battle-keen’ Cadogans played their part at the British Army’s most iconic battles. But opening the family archives – private letters, diaries and albums – Tamsin Perrett also found multilingual spies, evangelical clergymen, watercolour artists and daring society ladies, diplomats, courtiers and confidantes.

Alongside this remarkable tale is the parallel history of Chelsea: a riverside farmland estate transformed into a visionary Georgian new town, surviving unrest and near-bankruptcy to become a thriving London community

Join Tamsin ‘In Conversation’ with editor Camilla Mountain as they bring to life the interweaving of world events and private dramas over a thousand years; the story of one family that is also the story of the British Isles.
