In ‘Stone Lands’, Fiona Robertson takes her readers on a deeply personal and poetic journey through Britain’s ancient megalithic sites.

Blending memoir, mythology and archaeology, she explores the enduring power of stone circles, burial chambers and standing stones as places of memory, mourning and connection.

As she travels the country with her young family, Fiona reflects on themes of loss, motherhood, and the search for belonging, grounding her experiences in the rich histories and folklore of the land.

About the speaker

Fiona Robertson is a writer, editor and passionate megalith enthusiast who travels Britain with her family in search of standing stones. As a former publisher and a lifelong lover of folklore, archaeology and landscape, she brings historical insight and deep personal feeling to ‘Stone Lands’, a memoir woven through grief, wonder and ancient monuments.

Is the Chelsea Physic Garden accessible?

Most of the Garden is fully accessible, with the exception of the first floor Gallery at Chelsea Physic Garden which is used only for special events and is only accessible via a narrow 22 step staircase with a handrail.

Are bikes or scooters allowed?

Bikes (including folding bikes) and scooters are not permitted. There are bike racks located along Royal Hospital Road. These can be used to secure any bikes and scooters.

Please do not secure any bikes or scooters to the railings outside the Royal Hospital Chelsea or Burton Court. Any items secure to these railings will be removed.
