Join author and aviation historian Paul Beaver for an engaging talk about one of aviation’s greatest figures, Reginald Mitchell. As a visionary engineer with a passion for speed, Mitchell’s legacy is the iconic Spitfire, the most renowned fighter aircraft of all time.
Working at the forefront of technology with his team at Supermarine, Mitchell played a crucial role in preparing a nation for war. Although he did not live to see the Spitfire in action, his innovations contributed to victory in the Battle of Britain.
In this exciting talk, Paul Beaver will delve into the creative genius of a man dedicated to pushing technological boundaries, highlighting Mitchell’s other groundbreaking designs and revealing the real story behind the Spitfire.

About the speaker
Paul Beaver is a leading aviation historian, broadcaster, and author, as well as a historic aeroplane pilot who has been flying the Spitfire since 2011. He has authored over forty books, including “Winkle: The Extraordinary Life of Britain’s Greatest Pilot” and “Mitchell: Father of the Spitfire.” In addition to his writing, Paul has served as a television war reporter and journalist, and he spent twenty-seven years in the Territorial Army, rising to the rank of Colonel in the Army Air Corps.
