About the speakers
Mark Gwynne is an investment manager. He has published a collection of his great-uncle’s letters, ‘Dear Mum and Dad: Letters Home from Active Service, 1941-45’, covering his experiences during the Second World War.
Emily Maitlis is an award-winning journalist and former newsreader. Until 2021, she presented the BBC’s flagship current affairs show ‘Newsnight’. Since then, she has been a presenter of the daily podcast ‘The News Agents’. Emily is also the author of the ‘Sunday Times’ bestseller ‘Airhead: An Exploration of the Imperfect Art of Making News’.
Mishal Husain is Editor at Large for Bloomberg Weekend. In 2024 she was awarded the Charles Wheeler Award for Outstanding Contribution to Journalism by the British Journalism Review. Mishal has written two books, most recently a family memoir, ‘Broken Threads: My Family From Empire to Independence’, which became a Sunday Times Top Ten bestseller, and ‘The Skills: How to Win at Work’.
