Join Emily Maitlis and Mark Gwynne as they reflect on researching and surfacing family history, and the legacy of the ‘Forgotten Armies’ who served in Burma and across Southeast Asia during the Second World War.

About the speakers
Mark Gwynne is a business owner and investment banker. He has published a collection of his father’s letters, ‘Dear Mum and Dad: Letters Home from Active Service, 1941-45’, covering his experiences during the Second World War.
Emily Maitlis is an award-winning journalist and former newsreader. Until 2021, she presented the BBC’s flagship current affairs show ‘Newsnight’. Since then, she has been a presenter of the daily podcast ‘The News Agents’. Emily is also the author of the ‘Sunday Times’ bestseller ‘Airhead: An Exploration of the Imperfect Art of Making News’.
