About the event

Step into Chelsea Physic Garden and travel back in time at London’s oldest botanical garden. Founded in 1673 for apothecaries to study the healing power of plants, the Garden is bursting with stories waiting to be uncovered.

Across the weekend of the Chelsea History Festival, the whole family can get hands-on with nature and history. Try pond dipping, get planting, and enjoy lively storytelling sessions. Encounter historical characters who’ll share tales of medicine, botanical art and plants from centuries past.

Don’t forget to explore the Garden’s plant collection and treat yourself at the Physic Garden Café.

About Chelsea Physic Garden

Since 1673, Chelsea Physic Garden has been a teaching garden with the core principles of discovery, learning and wellbeing.

Within the Garden, visitors can find over 4,000 species of edible, useful and medicinal plants that help to tell the story of humanity’s relationship with plants.

The Garden is an independent charity which relies on public support to ensure it can achieve its purpose of education and public access. The Garden offers a year-round programme of learning activities, walks, talks, tours and workshops.
