Mónica Feria-Tinta is an award-winning international barrister whose groundbreaking legal work is helping redefine justice for our planet. In her new book, ‘A Barrister for the Earth’, she takes us behind the scenes of ten extraordinary cases where she has defended rivers, forests, species and communities against environmental destruction.

From holding governments accountable to challenging corporate polluters, her work shows how the law can be a powerful force for environmental change.

Access to the gallery is via a narrow 22-step staircase and unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.

About the speaker

Mónica Feria-Tinta is a British-Peruvian barrister specialising in Public International Law. She has been described as one of ‘the most daring, innovative and creative lawyers’ in the United Kingdom, and was shortlisted for ‘Barrister of the Year’ at The Lawyers’ Awards 2020 and at Chambers and Partners UK Bar Awards 2023 for her work in addressing climate change and environmental degradation.

Is the Chelsea Physic Garden accessible?

Most of the Garden is fully accessible, with the exception of the first floor Gallery at Chelsea Physic Garden which is used only for special events and is only accessible via a narrow 22 step staircase with a handrail.

Are bikes or scooters allowed?

Bikes (including folding bikes) and scooters are not permitted. There are bike racks located along Royal Hospital Road. These can be used to secure any bikes and scooters.

Please do not secure any bikes or scooters to the railings outside the Royal Hospital Chelsea or Burton Court. Any items secure to these railings will be removed.
