Revisit the world of Victorian Chelsea and its eccentric inhabitants with expert tour guide Geoff Levett.

About the event

The Victorian era saw sweeping change within London. Mass industrialisation, social and political reform and a mass population boom meant London and its people saw change and upheaval everywhere and for the residents of Chelsea it was no different. Yet Victorian Chelsea took on a new identity with the borough was home to radical political thinkers, avant garde artists, and ground-breaking writers, all living cheek-by-jowl in the beautiful riverine streets.

From Thomas Carlyle to Lady Wilde this exciting tour led by expert guide Geoff Levett will uncover the stories of Chelsea’s unconventional creatives, whose rebellions against polite society foreshadowed those of the 1960s.

The tour will start and end at the National Army Museum. It will last approximately two hours.
