Former general Barner White-Spunner presents a critical study of five historical armies that offers solutions for contemporary forces facing modern threats today.

About the event

Throughout history, several states have successfully reconstructed their armies, both on the field of battle but also in terms of their relationship with the nation they are duty-bound to protect.

Barney White-Spunner explores five examples – the Roman Army, the Ottoman Army, the New Model Army of the English Civil War, the Prussian Army of the Napoleonic Wars, and the US Army of the Second World War – and evaluates the long-standing principles established through their experiences that remain relevant today.
